Happy Father's Day to my one and only Pops.
You see, I'm the oldest and only girl. It's a fact that I should have been a brat
And although 95% of the time, I got the front seat and dad took my side
I was the trial and error and less like a brat
contrary to the belief of my brothers & mother
He made our lunches through high school. He had to deal with the special way
I liked my sandwiches.
I would bring home a math problem, and then a couple hours later
I was allowed back in the room where he could explain it.
He is stubborn when it comes to a problem he can't answer - he will in due time.
He was there in the stands for every basketball game
When I call, he knows I need him to google directions or ask about financials.
the majority of the time.
Us kids are cheap because of you. Yes, you're fault if mom wants to know.
I can tell him anything and I think he tries to understand me.
In a lot of ways we're the same.
We are reserved, but mostly candid and we prefer things informal
My brothers and I always laugh when we think the topic of discussion is over
but here comes dad moments later with another added two sense.
Some of us don't think of that "perfect thing to say" until later.
We get nervous to stand up in a crowd and hear our own voice.
We definitely place ourselves in the peanut gallery.
Where is the list of projects? We both have one.
His are written on crumpled receipts in the dining room.
We are chill and prefer not to make a big deal out of things
In fact, please don't.
He has become a real softy over the years.
We always went to mom when Dad said we couldn't go out.
He is the protector. He doesn't understand why I want to live so far away.
But then at the same time, he does.
It's nice to know you have someone to count on, like your dad,
to help you through things.
He gives me my space - then gets mom to call.
I love you dad - it's okay to still act up and laugh about everything
I'm glad not everything has to be so serious.
You've always tried teaching us how to take initiative
and you taught me that although being an adult has a lot of blank spaces
Anything is possible - just enjoy life.
The church is true. And we're all learning together.
I'm proud of you.
I know you want to retire, play golf and watch Clemson till you die.
Let's hope I get that job soon right...
Thanks for the faith, the support and love {and $$$}- even when it was hard.
And although no place will ever be safe enough outside of your walls
I will make it - because you helped me stay strong.

what dad can pull this hat off? - my dad.
and this is why i love him in a nutshell.

Husband, have you seen that end scene in pride and prejudice?
Where he gets permission from the father?
it will kinda be like that.
