Things That Are Awkward

So I decided to make a new list. My Awkward list...here it goes,

the door scene at the end of a date
when someone remembers your name, and you totally space
saying hello to someone who doesn't see you
laughing at a joke that wasn't meant to be funny
not laughing when everyone else is
tripping up the stairs
waving to one person, and someone else thought it was them
or waving to someone who wasn't waving to you

when you push the door instead of pull it
sitting in an interview and they ask a question you have no answer for
fighting the norwegians with only a pitchfork

grandma wants to know if you want the first piece of the lamb cake

just after you sang to Jesus for his birthday

when you're forced to put mom's food in a napkin

when you ask the person what they said, the 2nd time

and you act like you understood it the second time...

although you're still clueless...

and you just hope you weren't supposed to respond

when the joke is on you.

staring out in space until you realize it looks like you're staring at someone

and they look up and make eye contact

when your conversation piece starts out "you look like a runner"

when you say mister instead of mam

going in for the handshake, when they go for the hug

when someone likes the other person more

sweat stains. deodorant marks.

recognizing someone only because you've seen their facebook page

trying to define the relationship

butt crack

the side step when confronting someone on the sidewalk

catching the wrong part of someone else's convo

deciding whether or not you should say hello

to someone when you're not sure if they remember you
